1.
I stood above the captured man Knelt low to hear his plea I saw his children in his eyes I had to set him free I'll stand before your firing squad Stick my neck through your noose I'll tear my family crest to shreds Sooner than fight for you That man he never did me wrong His nation I don't care The president's the murderer Sent me to die out here You hide away in ivory towers Your chess boards lined with men It's not so easy trading pawns Once they've become your friends I'm not saying your cause ain't just Don't matter anymore And if we've learned a damn thing yet Let's skip the next world war How many towns must burn to ash? How many refugees? How many widows must we make To claim your victory? Come generals let's call it off Don't bother counting score 'f you have a cup of kindness yet Just stop the fucking war
2.
Put down your guns, put down your guns, tell me it ain't true I got so caught up fightin' for freedom forgot I was fightin' for me and you I don't wanna live in the better world if we have to live apart So put down your guns, put down your guns, this war's breakin' my heart Everybody in the war All the boys and all the girls Everybody in the war is out there fighting for freedom But everybody back at home Is just sick and tired of bein' alone Everybody back at home wants to hold 'em in their arms CHORUS But the other side wants our heads So the president has said The other side hates our lifestyle and our freedom But if the people on the other side Just want their lovers back alive Well then the other side wants the very same thing that we do CHORUS So what the hell we gotta do? To convince the nation of our truth What we gotta do to get back all our loved ones? We keep singing our peaceful songs Till our day comes along A little louder each day till they're back safe in our arms CHORUS

about

Maybe in the Next Year is a two-sided single of hope for the new year. Put Down Your Guns and Ballad of the Deserter are traditional Sector Seven New Year's bangers from the Third World War. Brought to the early 21st century for the first time by The Revelator, these songs abound with the hope that in the new year we might learn from our mistakes, and be better than we were in the last.
